Honesty.

19 11 2013

It’s like slipping
off the pride.
Admitting that we
aren’t perfect,
but rather we are
lost
broken and
lonely.

It’s like the
breaking down of
barriers
that we’ve spent
a lifetime building
and
that held us
bound
back and
in.

It’s like the tiny
ray of light
that sneaks its
way through
the darkness
and to shed light
in the cave we felt
lost
hopeless and
hidden in.

It’s like the sound
of the shackles
breaking free.
Crashing to the
ground and
shattering the deepest
of lies
that held us
captive
chained and
immovable.

It’s like the
burden we carried
being lifted
from our tender
shoulders
allowing us to
kneel
breathe and
release.

It’s like feeling
the warmth of
his peace
falling among us
that encourages
strengthens and
unites us…

It’s the body
being the body.
Choosing each other.
Broken and bruised
burned and mislead.
Choosing to walk
out of the darkness
together.
Choosing to challenge
and engage
and ask the hard questions.
Choosing to be vulnerable
no matter how the past
has molded us.

We are a new body.
Choosing each other.
Choosing to risk our own
hearts,
to seek His.
As much as I want to run
from this
and what God is choosing
to do in this town,
I will choose to
absolutely submerge
myself as best I can.
